West Kent YMCA is a completely independent local charity which is focusing on breaking the cycle of social exclusion amongst under-supported young people. Our mission statement reads:

‘Motivating and Equipping the most vulnerable and disengaged young person with the skills for life, for work and for living’

West Kent YMCA, although affiliated to YMCA of England and part of the wider YMCA movement worldwide, is a completely independent local charity and managed by local trustees. Our aim is to respond to local need, adapting our work so as to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

The charity’s operations currently focus on three main areas:

• Ryder House - Supported housing for single homeless young people.
• Furniture Warehouse – recycling project providing supported employment for young people
• Horizon Project – vocational training project for excluded young people.
